Motivation: This is a question which I ask myself when I wake up every morning. How motivation do I feel today? Staying motivated is the key to having a successful business. I have said it before and will say it again, the phone is the most important tool to use when first starting to build a home based business.

Did you know that turn phone has about a 30% conversion rate as to emails which only has 1%? That 1% is if you are lucky! The foundation for building a solid a stable business relies on making that human connection with others.

Here is something I just don't get.....This applies to people who purchase leads all the way up to others who know how to generate their own leads. People spend a ton of cash on leads and invest a substantial amount of time generating these leads. Then, once they have these leads, THEY DO NOT CALL THEM!!!

Can someone please explain to me why this occurs?? I will never understand why people throw away and ignore their business prospects. This is like the car salesman who sits in the dealership talking crap with the other sales guy instead of selling cars...So how does a good salesman sell cars and earn a 6 figure income every year? By using the PHONE! I am not yelling, but certainly trying to prove a point here. You can spend years on the internet playing around on facebook, sending tweets, writing articles, pushing that "left click" button to post some ad into some directory. That fact is, these techniques may make you money in the future but it is not guaranteed. I believe the phone is the best place to start when building a solid home based business. A home based business requires daily action in order for it to be a success-especially when battling the nature of the internet to help grow that business. Every morning when I wake up I ask myself what am I going to do for my Business today to make it grow? We all can sit around and wait for something to just happen (which in most cases never does). The reason is because most marketers or internet business owners fail to take action to grow their business effectively. So, I am going to share with you today how I use my time productively to build my business. I start my day off by picking up the phone and reaching out to potential prospects. My conversations usually only last about 2-3 minutes and 3 of 5 people I call say "yes", they will look at my information. This is far more effective than sitting back and waiting for people to contact you don't you think? 
 
After about 2 hours of calling people, I know have almost an entire week of follow ups for the next week or so. Why am I stressing using the phone here? Because it works far better than any other method of business advertising and gives instant results when done right! I must admit, I spent years avoiding the phone because I did not think it was necessary to call people. I figured my robotic email sets would work well. And they do work- at a rate of less than 1%. I would say the phones return rate is about 30%. So what will you start doing to balance your business?

A note about my background and experience: I started into Marketing at a very young age. In a thumbnail, I was born to be an artist. My parents were horrified about this claiming that artist starve to death. This freaked me out. So I bought many books on marketing art and marketing in general. One of those books, "Confessions of an Advertising Man", by David Ogilvy I purchased in 1980. That book changed my life. In 1984 Soon after I acquired my first computer and the quest to merge was on.

I coined the term back in the 90s as Data Base Marketing, but today, with the advent of a progressing Internet, and related technologies, what was a tactical or strategic action in the 80s today is represented by a digital counterpart.

Today's Internet Marketer is by far a lot less qualified to be in marketing than his counterpart 20 years ago. Today one can just claim to be an SEO master or an Internet Marketer simply because the information to discover the basics and intricacies to do so are at everyone's fingertips. This does not diminish the effectiveness of today's marketer over the marketing agency of 20 years ago, it just establishes that things have changed on a massive scale.

20 years ago it took a Marketing Department to accomplish what most Internet marketers set upon themselves to do today on their own. (This is why so many fail and/or have a chronic case of ADD; Attention Deficit Disorder). NOTE: "I suffer from this myself"

The marketing tools of the Internet, the ability to measure results, the ability to research on the Internet is a dream come true to a seasoned and long time experienced ad man as myself. But it also brings with it a serious risk potential and that is the undertaking of keeping track of and updating each of the aspects that compromise Internet Marketing today.

Back before the Internet an ad agency had many people for each respective responsibility, one department for sending direct mail, another for tradeshows and conferences and yet another for display advertising and printed material, press releases, radio ads, conventions, etc.....

This is why the majority of Internet marketers are tactical (focused mostly on one aspect like SEO) instead of being strategic, having a full focus of research, analysis, multifaceted campaigns using all the tools required for full scale Internet marketing, keeping it organized and processing the constant information caused by such a campaign.

Tools ie:

  • Hosting for domains and websites

     

  • Auto responders email for follow-up communications

     

  • Web Conference Rooms for live meetings, educational seminars, training connecting.

     

  • SEO systems, back links, authority sites, forums, blogs, etc.

     

  • Display advertising

     

  • A social networking system and management

     

  • Lead generating systems or resources for a steady inventory of leads.

The need to integrate all these aspects is paramount otherwise the marketing campaign is limited to a tactical approach, with poor management and even worse results. I have seen competent SEO marketers run from one domain to another, buying more domains and creating sites just for posting more content on pointing to other sites pointing to other sites creating a mass of gibberish that at best might increase an Alexa ranking to some degree but never really amounting to anything but time wasted.

This same phenomena can be seen with many people on the Internet running from one business idea or opportunity to the other. With no clear-cut objective, this is why most Internet marketers fail.

When you integrate the entire process, from research analysis (keeping track of that), keyword analysis, targeted content, pre written letters ready for your sequential mail auto responders, team building with a symbiotic group, videos and audio animations and screen captured demos, capture pages (tested with your group in our Bull Pen: focus groups increase the overall effectiveness of design and strategy), blogging and other partners in your group blogging on your behalf, back linking strategies and keeping track of the thousands of authority site memberships for additional effect, ratings with Google Page ranks and Alexa ranks and tracking that, traffic tracking, running display ads and managing that, running Google adsense ads, Facebook Ads etc and tracking, radio ads and cableTV ads. Whew!

All of this seems very overwhelming to accomplish 'on your own'. Desire: A Major Principle for any Home Business

This article today is one which will flow naturally. Everything I write comes straight from the thoughts I am currently experiencing at any particular moment. At this moment, I am not only going to help those who struggle building a business from home; but, I will also be giving myself insight on where I am at.

For a very long time, I have been so wrapped up in online promotion, seo work and article marketing that I lost touch with the best method to produce solid results for any business. Yes, I am talking about the one thing that 99% of marketers fail to do which keep them from making any money. I will get to that in a minute. First, I want to bring about a valid point here as it is my reality and what I have experienced over the last 6 years. When first launching a business, writing articles-will not make you money. Posting ads-will not make you money. Backlinking-will not make you money. Designing some silly graphic for a webpage-will not make you money. Learning HTML coding-will not make you money. (Remember: these are long terms goals that should only be sought after the main marketing strategy is well developed.

What am I refering to here? Using the phone to contact prospects about your business is the most important thing in the beginning. I was talking to another well known and very successful business owner earlier today about this. He mentioned how people are either scared or just to lazy to pick up the phone and say hello to someone who might very well join their business. My response to this was that calling people on the phone and pitching a business opportunity is about just as hard as sitting on the couch watching T.V while eating a cheeseburger.

Of course there is a certain skill invovled with the phone. Yet, anyone can have that skill if they just start practicing. Who cares what the persons response is because if they say no that that is all that will ever happen. Move on to the next call. Did you know the keyword phrase home based business is searched between 100,000 and 300,000 times per month throughout the entire world??

When I go to Google and type in home based business in the search box I can see that there is 2,180,000,000 other websites competing for this same search term. I have also looked the stats for this keyword up with Market Samurai which says home based business is searched 6608 daily on google. I am 5 pages away from holding a front page position. My goal is to have the 1st position for this keyword within the next 3 months. I am sure this will happen. True Home Business Integrity

I bet there are many people out there who are reading the beginning of this page wondering what it is I am talking about when I mention true business integrity. I am sure that if I was not the person to come up with this article, and was someone who just happened to find it in a google search, I would be drawn to take a look at what was written here to see what exactly the message is here. Well, I have been thinking a lot recently as I go through a ton of articles everyday reviewing what other individuals are writing. There are two many concerns I have when viewing article online. Before I go into that, I feel it is necessary to bring to pass the fact that when I review other peoples work online, I do so for the purpose of becoming a better writer myself and normally do not judge or criticize other people's work.

Recently, I have noticed an ongoing pattern of laziness for other people who are either posting ads or writing articles for their own personal blogs. What has came about was the issue of the content being published. Notice I did say written. The reason for this is the content is not an original one which was thought up by the author. This amazes me that other marketers online take other articles, published by other people and then copy and paste it onto their website or rss feed.

Now I will give you reasons why this is not a good habit to get into. First, the autor who is posting the article (which is not their own) loses credibility and then becomes viewed as a lazy and non-intuitive writer who can not articulate their own views. I see it as short cutting the entire process.

The second reason this is not good has to do with the search engines. Did you know that Google will poorly rank your website if it contains duplicate content from some other site that has been indexed?

Here is the point I am making. Taking the time to know what you want to write about has a much greater advantage when promoting your business online then taking someone elses material and pasting it as your own. I also wanted to say that I have been writing articles for a while now and am able to tell with ease when something is a cut and paste job. Whenever this is done, the text turns to code after posting. Normally this occurs wherever there is punctuation in the post.

This amazes me that people will actually shortcut their integrity as a professional business owner by using other peoples work instead of taking 10 minutes to write a good article.

Then, just to play devils advocate for a minute, there are indeed people who just flat out do not know how to write or they claim they are not good at it and have no idea what they need to write. For me, writing has become a natural ability. I speak from the heart when talking about my business and promoting on google.

I must admit that in the beginning when I first started out writing articles, I too took content from other sources and pasted to my site. But, the people who I am talking about clearly have not just started writing articles. In fact they have been do so for a few years too. This concerns me for the reason I am writing this article now. I do not write this to put people down or even make them feel bad. I post this as a quick message of concern to say that in order to brand yourself on the internet and have people start to trust what you are writing, it is better to write from the heart and speak what is on your mind rather than pass someone elses work off as your own (even if the work is cited). Be an original writer. In doing so, you create your own style for which other people or business prospect can see your personality. This is what I call true home business integrity. For anyone who is serious about making a living from the comfort of their own home, this is one subject which should not be taken lightly.

So I ask: "Where is your discipline??

I want you to think about what is motivating you to be your own boss and choose your schedule to make as much money as you want to make without having the burden of some other person dictating your worth. I know for myself that I just got fed up with upper management types giving me low pay as that sit on a pot of a few million dollars presenting that fake smile as people like myself break our neck to do good but never see any growth.

Does this sound familiar to you??

Maybe it does not; but, that is ok. There are plenty of people who probably felt exactly how I have felt. So, let's take a look at some discipline and how events like these are motivation to produce that entrepreneural spirit that each one of us have rooted into our souls. Now we ask,
"how serious are we about building a business from home and what will it take to make serious money?"

The answer to this question is simple; Discipline with a fierce attitude to succeed. So what does that mean? that means getting through all the "NO" responses to find the "yes". Picking up the phone and calling people whether they appreciate your call or not. The fact of the matter is; who cares if you make them mad, upset or if they reject you. this is the moment where you move onto the next call and keep calling until that yes is received. When that yes happens even if it is 300 calls later, the motivation to continue becomes greater which each passing phone call.

the phone is the most powerful tool anyone could ever use to build any business. There is more to be accomplished just by making that human connection with others even if they tell you to jump head first into traffic!

I would like to say that there are a number of sites which do have a good reputation and should, but I think that mywot misses the big picture when determining what is reputable and what is not. I know that the site I deal with are 100% reliable and provide results daily. The check is notin the mail...It goes straight to my bank account weekly. That tells me things are good!

    That $400 payment is you working for the credit card company.

    Another $440 goes for living expenses.

    What are you left with?

    At the end of the month you are lucky to have $160 for investment, that's $1 per hour that you are earning for yourself.

    Salary $4,000 You working for your boss

    Keyword Research: The Four Golden Rules
     
    Before starting any marketing campaign on the internet, it is vitally important to do careful research and analysis for what you are trying to promote before moving forward. So, in this article I will be explaining the four rules of keyword research. As long as keywords are selected with these four rules in mind, success is almost guaranteed. Let's take a look at the rules:
     
    Relevance- 
    The keyword chosen to promote a business most relevant to the product(s) and/or website being promoted.  The site must flow harmoniously with the right keyword(s) to tell the search engine spiders where this page should be indexed.
     
    Traffic-
    This step is critical to anyone's success online and plays a vital part in research and analysis of relevant keywords. Finding Keywords with good traffic(meaning people are searching for this on Google) will determine whether or not people are actually seeing your site. I personally recommend finding keywords with around 5000-10000 searches per month to start.
     
    Competition- 
    The next golden rule of keyword research is competition. So, what does this mean? This means finding acceptable levels of competition for a particular keyword. You do not want to choose a keyword that has extremely high levels of competition unless your are an experienced marketer who has a firm grasp on search engine optimization. For the professional, competition means nothing with the right seo tools. Remember to always have the relevance and traffic already determined going into this step. 
     
    Commerciality- 
    Here lies the fourth and final golden rule of keyword research. When advertising your business, make sure that people are spending money and competing for the keyword you are thinking of using. In other words, make sure there is a market for your keyword and apply the other rules.

    Advertising Your Business-Make Money

    Here are a couple really good ways to generate cash everyday by advertising your business. It does require some work, but it's very simple so can be outsourced if necessary.

    1) Find a niche market. Doesn't really matter what it is, but preferably something popular where there will always be buyers and a variety of products to choose from. Something like weight loss would be fine. Then find products and their aff programs (clickbank would be fine for this) or any offers with a cpa network.

    2) Create a review blog. Preferably you would want to use a proper domain as that's less likely to be flagged as spam. These cost a few bucks, as does hosting. Doesn't matter what the name of the site is, although it helps if it is targeted. And please buy a .com not a .info or something crap like that.

    Make it in VerePress. VerePress is something new and is hacker proof unlike WordPress which, now a days is highly unstable. Make all your artciles sound like real reviews. You could also go down the route of the personal blog - "I tried these pills and lost X in Y weeks". Most things will work - just test different niches and different blog setups. Cloak your affiliate links and make sure they track correctly. If you're lazy, you can just rip reviews from some top review sites - just bear in mind it's unlikely you'll ever rank for keywords (if that's your intention down the line).

    3) Setup Google Alerts for the following:

    [product name] - for each different product you have reviewed
    [your niche]
    [competitor products]
    [anything else that's relevant]

    4) Check your G Alerts regularly.

    5) If you've chosen a niche that is popular enough, you should get a ton of alerts like this. Usually they will be press releases, blog posts, forum posts so just make a note of all the URLs. If you're not getting at least 100 alerts per day, add some more products or find a new niche. The idea behind using Google Alerts is that you are one of the first people to comment on a forum thread/blog post and therefore will get more clicks.

    6) Visit every URL and respond in some way to the post. If it's a blog, comment with a link to your site. If it's a forum (ideal) then do the same. Put some thought into your posts.

    Don't just write "go to my site here plz www.yoursite.com".

    Something like "I always check out this website before buying any products in [niche name] - [website link]. My personal favourite is [product X - a random product from the review site] because [whatever, whatever, whatever]."

    It's not too hard to get this past forum moderators if you are clever about it. Forums are great as they will get you instant traffic and they tend to rank really well.

    7) Rinse and repeat

    The beauty of this method is that it can be done in a ton of niches, it's really easy to setup and you can get traffic instantly.

    Most of these posts will start ranking for your keywords after a while so by already being on that page, you can leverage off their rankings in the long term.

    So short term: direct traffic from the forums/blogs.

    Longer term: direct traffic once the posts start to rank.

    Why do people fail with online marketing?

    Did you know about 95% of people who go online to become an Internet Marketer will fail and lose money in the process?

    And all that happens despite the fact that the market is literally flooded with good ebooks, manuals, coaching, membership sites, (about list building, Google Adwords, traffic etc.) that were developed with only one goal in mind - to teach you the knowledge you need to become a successful marketer.

    But YOU still struggle to make things work.

    There is a good chance that most individuals belong to one of the following groups:

    1. You bought numerous Internet Marketing products (or downloaded them in the member download forum ) and implemented all advice, tips and techniques in your own business. But no matter what you are doing you are just not achieving the good results you are hoping for. You have read all the testimonials and raving forum posts from other marketers who used the products with great success. But for you it's just not happening.

    2. You too, bought every product out there. But instead of using them to start your own online business, you somehow never take any action towards actually building it. Yes, you have big dreams about it. Yes, you can imagine how thrilling it must be to live the Internet Lifestyle. Yes, you study and learn everything possible for hours a day. Yes, you know you should finally start - BUT you just don't do it. Something is always holding you back.

    3. You have some success already. You might even earn a 4 or 5 figure income already. But your dreams are much bigger than that. The only thing is, you hit some kind of plateau and you just don't get to the next level. You know you have the knowledge and determination but you are stuck with this level of income.

    There is a reason for it, and no matter at which point you said, "Yes, that is me," it is the same reason for everyone.

    This is the missing link for building the successful Internet business you are dreaming of.

    Are you curious what the missing link is?

    We programmed with built-in-boundaries. They are also not real but exist only in our minds.

    But with these imprinted belief systems, with these inner boundaries, we are unable...

    - to live our lives to the fullest - to be as successful as we could be --to set and reach higher goals - to make 10 times more money as we do now - to build a successful business - to get the promotion and pay increase we always dreamed of - to fulfill our true dreams and desires

    The point is...

    Your Inner Belief Systems Will Make Or Break Your Business!

    Let me explain this with a simple example...

    Let's say you are at a stage of your online business where you have built a list to a certain size. So far you didn't promote anything but put your efforts into building a relationship with your list members first by providing great content.

    But now you think you are ready to give it a shot. You heard about a great product and that marketers who promote this affiliate product achieve great results. For you it's a no-brainer to go for it as well.

    With your list size you expect 'realistically' at least 10-15 sales. You put great efforts in creating a convincing email about the product - you hit the 'send' button - and, instead of 10 or even more sales, you make only one.

    Depending on your existing inner beliefs one of two things will be happening..

    A. If you have any negative beliefs in regards of your business itself or your ability of running a business successfully, you'll experience thoughts like, "I can't understand why this is happening to me while everyone else and their dogs are doing great promoting this product; maybe I am simply not good enough to be successful as an Internet Marketer; maybe other marketers have better lists than I; I think the experts were right by telling me that my niche might be too competitive for a newbie to have a chance to make money." And so on...

    B. If your core beliefs regarding your business and your abilities in general are positive, you might have thoughts like, "I expected a little bit more, but hey, at least I made a sale at all; I am really grateful for it; I have accomplished something; I have to tell...(spouse) about my success; I can hardly wait for the next email campaign; I expect even better results next time." And so on...

    A week later there is another opportunity to endorse a good product. If you were the first marketer (A), you don't feel that enthusiastic anymore but worry a little about the outcome already, but you still create a rock solid email message - you hit the 'send' button - and there are no sales at all from your campaign.

    Now you doubt yourself even more. Your feeling of being a failure is deepening. You now really believe that something is wrong with your list. You think you entered your market too late to make any significant profit, etc.

    And the worst thing that is happening, you are strengthening your already existing negative belief system! And that will make sure that you'll go the road leading to more and more disappointments and bad outcomes. And finally you'll quit and will be convinced Internet Marketing is just not for you.

    A damaging belief, no matter if lying open in your mind or buried deeply inside, will always sabotage a possible positive outcome, no matter how hard you try!

    If you were the second marketer (B), you feel great while crafting your endorsement email. You are relaxed and grateful for the chance to make some profit again.

    You feel highly motivated, and you expect even better results this time - you hit the 'send' button - and (drum rolls, please ) you made 4 sales this time.

    You feel even more grateful. Your feeling of accomplishment is deepening. Your self-confidence is rising. And, most importantly, you are strengthening your already existing positive belief that will support you in everything you are going to do from here on.

    From this moment on you are on the road to success not only in email marketing but in all areas of your business. Your positive belief, your ability to feel grateful for even small victories (sales) and your positive expectation will get you more and more things, results and circumstances you can be grateful for.

    Because it is so important to understand I want to repeat it one more time.

    The chances for the first marketer are slim to none to make any significant profit with his/her business. The negative belief system that is controlling his or her life will always sabotage the chance for big, long lasting success.

    Bottom line: Your perception of yourself is the vital key to your success. It's because of self-imposed limits. Your inner boundaries will always sabotage true, long-lasting success - no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try.

    Well, it has been a long time coming. Finally, I have had the time to focus on this RSS Feed and provide real and truthful insight to all Google Readers about the nature of being in business for yourself and building a successful business. I will first start off by stating that I am not the best at what I do. but, I am damn good. I know how to manipulate google over time to get top rankings for high traffic keywords. I am going to use this feed to be as real and honest as possible with all readers who happen to land on the site in hopes that we can break the chains that hold us back on line in our efforts to build stable and viable businesses.

    I specialize in search engine marketing and SEO campaigns to get my information seen on Google. I have learned from some of the best in the business with the goal of one day being as good at this as they are. I will not sit here and try to persuade you to join my business or try my products. Because at the end of the day, no one want to hear about how great a product is. People who are looking for a business opportunity want to know about the people they are dealing with. That is what this website is for. I am going to provide detailed information about my experiences only with building a business online. I will tell you all about the bad times and how there were recent periods when I just wanted to hang up my hat and forget all about this whole online business thing. But, the truth is, I have came way too far, launched way too many websites and done way too much work to just walk away from this process of building a successful life for myself and my family. SEO is a part of me now even if I am not as good as I want to be. I believe that even the greatest in the business can always see room for improvement and if they can't, then they are no longer teachable.
